Hospice Hop Strikes a Resounding Chord for Hospice House
Masquerade and music filled the air Saturday, August 29, as the sixth annual Kansas City Hospice Hop, “Phantom Comes to the Hopera,” took place at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center. A benefit for Kansas City Hospice House, a 24-bed inpatient facility, the evening began with a cocktail reception and silent auction featuring travel packages, a distinctive wine selection and dining opportunities. Guests donned masks and theatrical costumes evoking the mysterious theme of the event. Throughout the four-course dinner guests were treated to the outstanding talents of Nathan Granner, Ben Gulley, Kip Wilborn and Ida Nicolosi who offered vocal selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera” as well as works by Giacomo Puccini and Richard Rodgers. Jeff Mallin, event co-chair, hosted the program along with his wife, Sharon, event co-chair, and Beverly and Larry Mallin, honorary co-chairs. A committee of 49 organized the fundraiser which netted nearly $400,000 and prompted standing ovations from guests.
