NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL HOSPICE MONTH
Elaine McIntosh, President & CEO, Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care
Few things in life are certain, but death remains inevitable for all of us. While the circumstances of death may be beyond our control, we can manage the environment surrounding death by making care choices that will make the final phase of life more peaceful.
Hospice care brings peace of mind to the seriously ill and their families and helps people make the most of every day, no matter how many days in each life remain. Hospice offers the benefit of expert care to manage symptoms and keep patients comfortable as they are surrounded by loved ones. Some patients receive such specialized care at hospice that their condition actually improves enough to return home.
Most people wait too long to call hospice. Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care helps people transform a difficult time into one of great meaning and satisfaction. In addition to end-of-life care, we offer palliative (comfort) care which can often help in any stage of serious illness.
National Hospice Month reminds us to initiate important conversations with our loved ones about life’s final journey. Make the decision now to allow hospice professionals to help ease the burden of appropriate medical choices bringing peace to you and your family.
