Admissions Process

To inquire about receiving services at Kansas City Hospice House, please call us at 816-363-2600. The patient, a family member, the patient’s physician or hospital, or other health or social service agency staff member may call to inquire about care.

A nurse will visit the patient and provide an assessment to determine if Kansas City Hospice House is appropriate or whether another Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care program would be a better fit.

Patients are accepted to Kansas City Hospice House if they are medically appropriate and a bed is available. In general, patients are admitted to Kansas City Hospice House a short time after the process begins with the initial phone call. On the day patients arrive, staff meet with them individually and any family members to get them acquainted with the facility.

Services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and some private insurance policies. Please be ready to provide Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care with insurance information as soon as possible. For patients with commercial insurance as a primary payer, pre-authorization often is required before admission to Kansas City Hospice House.

As a nonprofit organization, Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care is dedicated to serving all in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Staff will assist families in determining the need for assistance or fee waiver.
