Training for volunteers who work with patients at their homes, nursing homes or assisted living facilities is about 14 hours total over three days. It covers things such as hospice history and philosophy, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families, communication skills, patient care and comfort, grief and loss, and volunteer roles and responsibilities.
Volunteer training sessions are scheduled throughout the year with different time schedules and in various locations in the Kansas City area. Our schedule to date is: April 5, 7 and 14, 2010 at Research Medical Center in KCMO October: a training will be help in Independence, MO and also in Kansas City, KS
